Solar Activity

.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity remained at low levels. Region 4490 (N15, L=202) decayed
to plage, while Regions 4489 (S07E13, Cso/beta) and 4491 (S11E50,
Hrx/alpha) remained stable. A few rudimentary spots emerged near S12E40,
but this area remained unnumbered pending additional observations. No
Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery.

.Forecast...
Solar activity is likely to reach low levels, with a slight chance for
M-class flare activity, over 18-20 Jul.

Energetic Particle

.24 hr Summary...
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached high levels with a peak
flux of 1,990 pfu observed. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was
at background levels.

.Forecast...
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to reach high levels on
18-20 Jul. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue
at background levels through 20 Jul.

Solar Wind

.24 hr Summary...
The solar wind environment remained at background levels. Total magnetic
field strength reached 5 nT, while the Bz component ranged between +/-4
nT. Solar wind speeds gradually decreased from ~360 km/s to ~330 km/s
throughout the period.

.Forecast...
Solar wind parameters are expected to be mildly enhanced with weak
positive polarity CH HSS influences on 18 Jul. Ambient conditions are
expected to prevail on 19-20 Jul.

Geospace

.24 hr Summary...
The geomagnetic field was quiet under an ambient solar wind environment.

.Forecast...
The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to unsettled on 18 Jul
under weak positive polarity CH HSS influences. Mostly quiet conditions
are expected to prevail on 19-20 Jul.
