Dr. Christopher Molnar is a graduate of Fielding Graduate University’s Educational Leadership and Change program. During his Doctoral program Dr. Molnar specialized in alternative approaches to traditional adult vocational and organizational training.
Dr. Molnar is a product of such non-traditional training beginning in his High School years. Dr. Molnar is a graduate of Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA where he concentrated on an agricultural as diploma. Dr. Molnar then attended the State University of New York Agricultural and Technical College at Cobleskill, NY for 18 months before deciding that traditional post-secondary was not for him.
Following school Dr. Molnar taught himself C, SQL, SAS, and Visual Basics and spent a number of years working as a software developer and then software quality assurance leed. Dr. Molnar then went to work for a small Paris, France based software company named Mandrakesoft and spent the next few years traveling the world and providing Linux training in many of the English speaking countries. In addition to his training duties Dr. Molnar served as a software developer and packager for Mandrakesoft.
Following the .com bubble burst of the early 2000’s Dr. Molnar returned to school and put his computer and electrical skills to use learning the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration trade.
After spending four years in the field as an HVAC/R technician and earning his contractors license in Connecticut, Dr. Molnar was offered the opportunity to teach HVAC/R at the school he graduated from and returned to Porter and Chester Institute as an instructor. Within three months of his return he was promoted to department supervisor. After completing a move to a brand new campus and building the department from 20 students to over 100 and building the faculty from 1 instructor to 7 he was asked to begin the Distance and Blended learning programs for HVAC, Medical Assisting, and Dental Assisting.
Dr. Molnar designed, created, and received accreditation for an online version of the HVAC/R program that was being offered in-house. Then he trained and assisted in the roll-out of the Blended (or Hybrid) Medical and Dental Assisting programs. After achieving accreditation he has now trained the instructors on three campuses to teach in the blended environment. Dr. Molnar has continued to provide formal and informal professional development for instructors across all disciplines at Porter and Chester Institute.
During this time Dr. Molnar continued in his own education. While teaching full time Dr. Molnar returned to school on his own and completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Northeastern University in technical communications. He then continued at Northeastern and completed his Master’s in Education and finally enrolled at Fielding Graduate Institute to study for his Doctorate in Education and completed that program in a little over two years graduating in October, 2010.
Dr. Molnar continues to attend all possible professional development and training opportunities and has maintained his HVAC/R Contractors License, his Certified Indoor Environmentalist certification, and several additional certifications and membership.
Because of his varied education and expertise in a number of areas, Dr. Molnar is in a unique position to relate to and understand student, institutional, and educational needs.
