U.S. DAILY SITUATION REPORT (SITREP)
================================================================================
DATE: May 08, 2026 | TIME: 18:00 EST
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ BLUF: BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT ]
-----------------------------
TRUCE UNDER EXTREME STRAIN: U.S. FORCES DISABLED TWO IRANIAN TANKERS
ATTEMPTING
TO BREACH THE BLOCKADE FOLLOWING A KINETIC OVERNIGHT EXCHANGE IN THE
STRAIT.
DHS SEC. MULLIN CONTINUES "WORST OF THE WORST" CRIMINAL ALIEN EXPULSIONS AS
BUDGETARY STABILITY RETURNS TO TSA. SEVERE WEATHER MOVES INTO THE
NORTHEAST,
WHILE NEW "EXTREME" FIRE BEHAVIOR IS REPORTED AT THE SOUTH CANAL FIRE IN
FLORIDA.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. THE IRAN WAR (OPERATION EPIC FURY - PHASE II / PROJECT FREEDOM)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* KINETIC ESCALATION: The ceasefire "hung by a thread" today after U.S.
jets
struck the smokestacks of two Iranian tankers attempting to violate the
naval blockade. CENTCOM confirmed a third vessel was disabled earlier
this
week. Overnight, U.S. destroyers thwarted attacks from three Iranian
surface vessels in the Strait.
* UAE UNDER ATTACK: The UAE Defense Ministry reported an Iranian missile
and
drone barrage today, resulting in three moderate injuries. Air defenses
successfully engaged two ballistic missiles and three UAVs.
* BLOCKADE STATUS: While "Project Freedom" (active escorts) remains in a
diplomatic pause, the U.S. "Total Blockade" of Iranian ports is 100%
enforced. Iran retaliated today by seizing the tanker "Ocean Koi" in the
Gulf of Oman, alleging it was "disrupting Iranian exports."
* DIPLOMATIC PULSE: Sec. State Marco Rubio stated he expects a "serious
offer" from Tehran via Islamabad mediators later today. Negotiations
focus
on a 45-day ceasefire framework involving nuclear rollbacks and the full
reopening of the Strait.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* ENFORCEMENT SURGE: Secretary Markwayne Mullin and ICE announced the
arrest of multiple "Worst of the Worst" criminal illegal aliens today,
including child predators and drug traffickers. Sec. Mullin emphasized
that "under President Trump, removal is the only outcome for violent
criminals."
* TSA/AVIATION: Checkpoint operations have fully normalized following the
restoration of funding. National Guard units have largely demobilized
from checkpoint lines, returning to standard perimeter security roles.
* BORDER SECURITY: DHS issued a high-profile detainer request for an
illegal alien in Montana charged with the sexual assault of a minor. The
department is utilizing these cases to advocate for the passage of the
pending $70B border enforcement bill.
* INFRASTRUCTURE: CISA remains on "High Alert" for retaliatory digital
strikes against U.S. energy and financial sectors following today's
tanker interdictions in the Persian Gulf.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. SEVERE WEATHER & WILDFIRES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* NORTHEAST THREAT: The severe weather front that impacted the Deep South
yesterday has moved into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. A Level 2
(Slight)
risk is active for portions of PA, NJ, and NY, with threats of damaging
straight-line winds and isolated flash flooding.
* WILDFIRES (PL-2):
- FLORIDA: The "South Canal" fire (Mayo, FL) is exhibiting extreme
behavior with wind-driven runs and long-range spotting. The "Lochloosa
West" fire near Gainesville is also active with "running and
torching."
- GEORGIA: The "Pineland Rd" (52,000 acres) and "HWY 82" (22,000 acres)
fires have transitioned to "minimal" behavior following recent
precipitation, though mop-up operations continue.
- OREGON: A new large start, the "Pine Mountain" fire near Bend, has
reached 1,500 acres. Fire behavior is active with torching and
spotting, threatening communication infrastructure.
- CALIFORNIA: The "Canyon" fire in the Desert District (Ridgecrest) is
uncontained at 500 acres.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. ECONOMIC & INFRASTRUCTURE IMPACT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* ENERGY: Oil prices steadied at $90.50/bbl despite the morning's clashes.
Markets are balancing the "Hormuz Risk" against the possibility of a
major diplomatic breakthrough tonight in Islamabad.
* MARKETS: Wall Street saw a slight slide today as traders "rethought the
assumptions" of a quick end to the conflict. Defense equities saw a
minor boost following CENTCOM’s engagement reports.
* LOGISTICS: The "Mullin Corridors" are operating at near-peak capacity for
surface freight. Air cargo rates remain elevated as a precautionary
measure against potential renewed "Project Freedom" disruptions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
