U.S. DAILY SITUATION REPORT (SITREP)
================================================================================
DATE: April 09, 2026 | TIME: 18:00 EST
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ BLUF: BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT ]
-----------------------------
OPERATION EPIC FURY REMAINS IN A "KINETIC FREEZE" UNDER THE TWO-WEEK
CEASEFIRE.
TENSIONS ESCALATE OVER TEHRAN'S PROPOSED "HORMUZ TOLL," WHICH THE U.S.
DECLARES
ILLEGAL. DHS SEC. MULLIN ANNOUNCES THE "SENTINEL RAIL" INITIATIVE TO SECURE
MIDWEST HUB RECOVERY. SEVERE FLOODING PEAKS IN THE MID-SOUTH AS A NEW
SYSTEM
APPROACHES THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, WHILE THE TEXAS "MEADOW VIEW" FIRE
REACHES
40% CONTAINMENT DESPITE HIGH WINDS.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. THE IRAN WAR (OPERATION EPIC FURY - DAY 41)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* CEASEFIRE STATUS: Day 2 of the "Technical Pause" holds. No coalition
airstrikes
reported on the Iranian mainland. Iran’s military has moved several
mobile
surface-to-air missile (SAM) batteries into storage as a "good faith"
gesture
ahead of the Islamabad talks.
* HORMUZ STANDOFF: The White House issued a formal "Freedom of Navigation"
declaration today, rejecting Iran’s $2M-per-vessel transit toll. U.S.
Navy
destroyers continue to patrol the outer edges of the Strait to ensure
Trident Guard convoys remain unmolested by irregular
"toll-collection" craft.
* P.O.W. STATUS: Negotiations for the second downed F-15 airman are the
primary focus of Swiss intermediaries. Rumors of a potential "prisoner
swap" involving frozen assets have been dismissed by SecState as
"premature."
* THEATER INTEL: Satellite imagery confirms that while export terminals are
disabled, Iran has begun internal repairs on civilian power grids in
Tehran and Karaj using components sourced from the black market.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* INFRASTRUCTURE: Sec. Mullin launched "Operation Sentinel Rail" today.
Following the unfreezing of contract funds, DHS is deploying 1,200
additional
security contractors to safeguard freight rail junctions in Illinois and
Ohio from "asymmetric sabotage" during the supply chain recovery.
* DETENTION & ENFORCEMENT: Responding to transparency criticisms, Sec.
Mullin
authorized limited media access to the new "Laredo Processing Annex." He
emphasized that "high-capacity" does not mean "low-standard," but
reiterated that deportation remains the ultimate goal for all detainees.
* BORDER TECH: The first fleet of "Vector-9" autonomous surveillance drones
has achieved 24/7 flight status over the Arizona-Mexico border,
providing
real-time thermal feeds directly to DHS regional command centers.
* CYBER WATCH: CISA reports a 25% increase in "phishing" attempts against
U.S. port employees. These attacks appear to be seeking login
credentials
for the newly installed DHS "Logistics Corridor" tracking software.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. SEVERE WEATHER & WILDFIRES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* MID-SOUTH FLOODING: The St. Francis and Black Rivers (AR/MO) have reached
their highest levels since 2011. While the rain has stopped, runoff
continues
to overwhelm rural drainage systems. FEMA has established three
"Logistics
Staging Areas" in Memphis to support local levee reinforcement.
* RED RIVER UPDATE: The Red River at Fargo has receded further to 20.8 ft.
The "slump" risk has slightly decreased as soil begins to dry, but the
area is being monitored for a secondary rise due to incoming
Northwest moisture.
* WILDFIRES (PL-2):
- TEXAS: The "Meadow View" fire (Panhandle) is now 40% contained at
12,000
acres. Winds have shifted to the North, allowing crews to flank the
southern edge of the fire.
- FLORIDA: The "Hilux Fire" (Big Cypress) remains active with
low-intensity
backing fire. Heavy smoke is impacting visibility on I-75
(Alligator Alley)
during overnight hours.
* PACIFIC NORTHWEST: A "Pineapple Express" atmospheric river is forecast
to impact Washington and Oregon starting tomorrow evening, with 4–6
inches
of rain possible in the Cascades, raising landslide concerns.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. ECONOMIC & INFRASTRUCTURE IMPACT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* ENERGY: Brent Crude is stable at $88/bbl. Analysts suggest that until the
Hormuz "Tollbooth" issue is resolved, prices will remain sensitive to
diplomatic rhetoric.
* LOGISTICS: Major retailers (Walmart, Target) report that the "Sentinel
Rail" surge has successfully moved the first wave of "back-to-school"
inventory from West Coast ports to central warehouses.
* AGRICULTURE: Rising water levels in the Ohio Valley have temporarily
halted
barge traffic for grain exports, causing a localized "glut" in silos and
driving down spot prices for farmers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
