U.S. DAILY SITUATION REPORT (SITREP)
================================================================================
DATE: March 29, 2026 | TIME: 18:00 EDT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ BLUF: BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT ]
-----------------------------
OPERATION EPIC FURY ENTERS DAY 30 AMID INTENSE "SWISS-CHANNEL"
DIPLOMACY; U.S.
FORCES TRANSITION TO A "BLOCKADE AND MONITOR" POSTURE. DOMESTICALLY, SEC.
MULLIN HAS DECLARED THE SEAPORT BACKLOG "HALVED," THOUGH CYBER THREATS TO
UTILITIES REMAIN ELEVATED. THE HIGH PLAINS COMPLEX FIRE IN TEXAS HAS SURGED
TO 185,000 ACRES, WHILE A RAPID SNOWMELT IS TRIGGERING FLOODING IN THE
RED RIVER VALLEY.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. THE IRAN WAR (OPERATION EPIC FURY - DAY 30)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* STRATEGIC POSTURE: Marking the one-month milestone, the Pentagon
reports a
significant reduction in kinetic sorties. U.S. assets are now
maintaining
a "Continuous Strike CAP" (Combat Air Patrol) to interdict any attempted
reconstitution of IRGC missile sites.
* DIPLOMATIC FRONTIER: "Swiss-channel" talks have progressed to a formal
list of 12 demands. Tehran has reportedly agreed to a "Technical
Verification
Period" for its nuclear sites in exchange for a temporary lifting of the
energy blockade. The White House has not yet signed off on the pause.
* NAVAL FRONT: Trident Guard convoy #8 completed transit today. Maritime
insurance rates for the Gulf have dropped by 15% in response to the
sustained absence of Iranian naval interference.
* HUMANITARIAN: The UN has authorized a "Life-Line" mission to deliver
desalination fuel to Bandar Abbas under U.S. naval escort to mitigate
the regional water crisis.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* PORT RECOVERY: Sec. Mullin announced today that 55% of the 40-day cargo
backlog has been cleared. The "Strike Teams" are now focusing on the
Port
of Houston and the Port of New York/New Jersey.
* BORDER SECURITY: Deployment of "Aero-Stat" surveillance balloons has been
completed across the Big Bend and Del Rio sectors. Mullin credited
restored DHS funding for a "seamless technical integration" of theater
assets into domestic border defense.
* CYBER WATCH: CISA has issued a "Shields Up" advisory for municipal gas
utilities. Intelligence indicates "remnant" Iranian cyber cells may
attempt "parting-shot" attacks on heating grids during the current
Midwest temperature fluctuations.
* TRAVEL: Aviation systems are operating at 95% efficiency. TSA has
re-opened all Pre-Check enrollment centers closed during the shutdown.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. SEVERE WEATHER & WILDFIRES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* TEXAS FIRE EMERGENCY: The High Plains Complex has grown to 185,000 acres
and remains only 12% contained. A "Dry Line" passage today brought 50
MPH
gusts, jumping several containment lines near Pampa, TX. FEMA has
authorized Fire Management Assistance Grants (FMAG) for three counties.
* SPRING FLOODING: The "Great Meltoff" is underway. The Red River of the
North (Fargo/Moorhead) has reached "Major Flood" stage. National Guard
units are assisting in sandbagging operations as ice jams exacerbate
rising water levels.
* NORTHWEST LANDSLIDES: A minor storm system triggered two new landslides
near Oso, WA. No injuries reported, but local SR-530 is closed
indefinitely
for stability assessments.
* SOUTHEAST RECOVERY: Power has been restored to 90% of the Birmingham
metro area following the March 26 tornado. FEMA has processed 12,000
individual assistance applications in the last 48 hours.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. ECONOMIC & INFRASTRUCTURE IMPACT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* ENERGY: Brent Crude is trading at $84/bbl. Market analysts predict a
return to $80/bbl if the "Swiss-channel" 48-hour pause is finalized.
* AGRICULTURE: Wheat futures are up 5% as the Red River flooding impacts
planting schedules in the Northern Plains.
* TELECOM: Persistent "packet-loss" issues reported in the DC-Maryland
corridor; DHS is investigating potential sophisticated DDoS interference
targeting government contractor VPNs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
