U.S. DAILY SITUATION REPORT (SITREP)
================================================================================
DATE: March 18, 2026 | TIME: 18:00 EST
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ BLUF: BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT ]
-----------------------------
OPERATION EPIC FURY ENTERS DAY 19 WITH STRIKES NEUTRALIZING 6,000+ TARGETS TO
DATE; ALL EYES TURN TO THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ AS ISRAELI OPS TARGET COERCIVE
NODES IN TEHRAN. DOMESTICALLY, SENATOR MARKWAYNE MULLIN FACED A FIERY DHS
CONFIRMATION HEARING AMID THE ONGOING 31-DAY FUNDING SHUTDOWN. NEBRASKA
BATTLES THE LARGEST WILDFIRE IN ITS HISTORY (643,000+ ACRES), WHILE THE
MID-ATLANTIC RECOVERS FROM A RARE LEVEL 4 TORNADO OUTBREAK.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. THE IRAN WAR (OPERATION EPIC FURY - DAY 19)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* MILITARY STATUS: U.S. Central Command reports substantial progress, with
more than 60 ships and 30 minelayers destroyed. Air superiority is being
used to dismantle the regime's "internal security architecture," specifically
targeting Basij checkpoints and IRGC command hubs in Tehran and Isfahan.
* LEADERSHIP VACUUM: U.S. and Israeli intelligence assess that the IRGC is
currently "calling the shots" as Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei remains
wounded and out of public view.
* RUSSIAN INVOLVEMENT: Ukrainian intelligence confirms with "100 percent"
certainty that Iran is utilizing Russian-produced Shahed drones—modified
with Russian details—to strike U.S. bases in the Middle East.
* NAVAL FRONT: Minesweeping remains the primary obstacle in the Strait of
Hormuz. Iran continues to attempt to obscure responsibility for drone and
missile attacks targeting Gulf states to strain U.S.-Arab relations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* CONFIRMATION HEARING: Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) appeared before the
Senate today to replace ousted Secretary Kristi Noem. The hearing turned
hostile when Chairman Rand Paul confronted Mullin over past personal
insults and "anger issues."
* SHUTDOWN IMPACT: The partial DHS shutdown enters its second month. TSA
screeners continue to work without pay, resulting in record-length lines
at major travel hubs and the suspension of Global Entry processing.
* POLICY SHIFT: Mullin signaled a "steady hand" approach to mass deportations
but faced intense questioning from Democrats regarding the deaths of
protesters in Minneapolis during previous enforcement operations.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. SEVERE WEATHER & WILDFIRES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* NEBRASKA CATASTROPHE: The Morrill Fire is now the largest in state history,
mapped at 643,360 acres (18% contained). Combined with the Cottonwood and
Road 203 fires, over 800,000 acres have burned statewide. A Red Flag
Warning is active today with 50 MPH gusts forecast to test fire lines.
* TORNADO RECAP: Damage surveys are underway following the rare "Moderate
Risk" (Level 4/5) outbreak that slammed the Mid-Atlantic. At least 11
tornadoes are confirmed, including a deadly EF-3 in Indiana earlier this week.
* POLAR VORTEX VS. HEAT DOME: A massive atmospheric collision is occurring.
While the North deals with single-digit wind chills, Phoenix is forecast to
hit a record 103°F-107°F this week—the earliest 100-degree days in 137 years.
* FLOODING: An atmospheric river is currently stalling over Washington state,
raising major flood risks through March 20.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. ECONOMIC & INFRASTRUCTURE IMPACT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* AVIATION: Over 15,000 disruptions clogged the national aviation system
today due to the combined impact of weather ground stops (CLT, IAH) and
DHS staffing shortages.
* CYBER: CISA remains on high alert for "wiper" malware targeting logistics
firms as the U.S. attempts to secure energy supply chains.
