U.S. DAILY SITUATION REPORT (SITREP)
================================================================================
DATE: March 15, 2026 | TIME: 18:00 EST
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ BLUF: BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT ]
-----------------------------
OPERATION EPIC FURY ENTERS DAY 16. U.S. AND ISRAELI STRIKES DEVASTATE IRAN'S
SPACE RESEARCH AND OIL EXPORT HUBS; 15 KILLED IN ISFAHAN FACTORY STRIKE.
DOMESTICALLY, THE DHS SHUTDOWN DEEPENS FOLLOWING THE FIRING OF SECRETARY
KRISTI NOEM. A POWERFUL "BLIZZARD BOMB" IS PARALYZING THE MIDWEST WITH
20+ INCHES OF SNOW, WHILE NEBRASKA'S MORRILL COUNTY FIRE HAS SCORCHED
OVER 2,400 SQ KM.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. THE IRAN WAR (OPERATION EPIC FURY - DAY 16)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* AERIAL OPS: Heavy strikes targeted Isfahan and Kharg Island. Iran's Space
Organization research center destroyed. Isfahan factory strike resulted in
15 casualties; 90+ military targets neutralized on Kharg Island alone.
* RETALIATION: Iran launched 56 attack waves in 24 hours—the highest volume
recorded in the campaign. Barrages of ballistic missiles targeted central
Israel. Iranian proxies struck the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, damaging
radar systems and the heliport.
* MARITIME: President Trump calls for a naval coalition to break the
Strait of Hormuz blockade. U.S. plans to deploy 5,000 Marines/Sailors to
the region as "Epic Fury" goals remain "laser-focused" on regime firepower.
* DIPLOMACY: Lebanon seeks direct negotiations with Israel via 15 mediator
nations; Israeli officials indicate operations will continue through
at least Passover (April).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* LEADERSHIP VACUUM: Secretary Kristi Noem fired by the President (March 5)
following controversies in Minnesota. Acting Secretary Senator Markwayne
Mullin prepares for March 18 hearing amid the first cabinet turnover.
* SHUTDOWN STATUS: Partial government shutdown enters its third week.
DHS implements "Emergency Measures": Global Entry suspended, FEMA non-disaster
recovery halted, and airport courtesy escorts for Congress cancelled.
* ENFORCEMENT: Trump administration reports 700k deportations since Jan 20,
though AP analysis suggests lower figures near 400k. Data transparency
remains a point of contention between DHS and congressional oversight.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. SEVERE WEATHER & WILDFIRES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* BLIZZARD BOMB: Massive winter storm slamming the Upper Midwest. Minneapolis
and Milwaukee under blizzard warnings with 20+ inches of snow recorded.
Over 4,100 flights cancelled; Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) runways paralyzed.
* SEVERE THREAT: Storm system spreading East; tornadoes and 70+ MPH winds
forecast for Mid-Atlantic and Washington D.C. by Monday morning.
* WILDFIRES: Catastrophic fire behavior in Nebraska. The Morrill County
Fire has burned ~2,430 sq km (940 sq miles). High winds up to 105 km/h
fueled rapid spread; one fatality and dozens of structures lost.
* HAWAII: Severe flooding and landslides continue to damage homes in Hawaii;
FEMA response limited by the current federal spending freeze.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. ECONOMIC & INFRASTRUCTURE IMPACT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* ENERGY: Oil prices remain volatile; Energy Secretary Chris Wright predicts
a supply rebound in "weeks" as the kinetic phase nears its expected peak.
* POWER: 346,000+ customers without power across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and
Michigan due to wind damage and heavy snow loading on grids.
