Greetings fellow packet operators!
I am exploring a self-contained EMCOMM health and welfare
message kiosk concept using packet radio. The idea:
- Raspberry Pi running Linux or BSD
- Ad-hoc WiFi access point (no internet required)
- Login to WiFi and the browser from a QR code.
- Survivor opens browser, fills out simple web form
- System generates NTS Type T message automatically
- Message forwards via packet radio to NTS network
- NTS volunteers deliver by phone to destination
No internet. No cell service. Just a Pi, a TNC, a radio,
and the existing NTS infrastructure. Zero training required
for the survivor using it.
Before I go further I want to ask the community:
- Is anyone already doing something like this?
- Are there existing projects I should know about?
- Is there interest in collaborating?
I am currently reviving the DPBOX/TNT/TFKISS Unix packet BBS
stack as the backend, with NTS Type T support on the todo list.
If you are working on something similar or have interest please
send a personal message to KQ6UP or email:
