Hello everyone,
Please see below for several updates regarding the TPRFN network:
- Website Update: The Home BBS search page has been updated based on the BPQ WP and can be accessed at https://www.tprfn.net/
us-bbs-search-portal.
- WLGATE Update: The Winlink to Packet BBS Gateway has been updated to read the new WP database and automatically add the hom
e BBS of any station entered in the subject line, provided that station is in the database.
- Gateway Testing: Testing for the VarAC to BBS Bidirectional gateway is currently underway and progressing well.
- Node Applications: An APPS command has been added to Node N3MEL-7. This menu, originally created by Brad (KC1JMH), now incl
udes custom code providing features such as AI, weather and 24-hour forecasts by zip code, and access to the WW Convers Server
& more.
- Mercury Modem Testing: Testing of the new Mercury modem is ongoing with K7EK, with limited success so far. If anyone on the
East Coast is interested in participating in this testing, please let me know.
- GitHub Repository: A GitHub site will be launched soon to share these codes for implementation at other packet stations. Ad
ditional WLGATE and VarAC to BBS gateways across the country would be highly beneficial.
- Coming soon you will be able to request from TPRFN either a weather report or a 24 hour forecast report by zip code, includ
ing any watches or warnings from both Winlink & VarAC. More details coming soon.
We continue to seek additional TPRFN hub stations throughout the United States. Please reach out if you are interested in parti
cipating.
Additionally, we appreciate any promotion of the network that you can provide in your regions. While interest in packet radio v
aries, the TPRFN network operates efficiently without internet reliance and, in some cases, transfers messages faster than alte
rnative modes. TPRFN has evolved into a comprehensive multi-mode network; more information is available at http://tprfn.net.
We plan to schedule both a network hub station Zoom meeting and a full-access Zoom meeting in the near future. Please watch for
upcoming date announcements.
