It was with a heavy heart that I learned of the passing of Jeff, KP3FT.
On behalf of the amateur radio community and specifically the members of
the Packet Radio RF Forwarding Network (TPRFN), please accept our
deepest condolences.
Jeff was much more than a skilled operator; he was a visionary in our
field. As a founding member of TPRFN, his influence is woven into the
very fabric of the network. In fact, it was Jeff who created the "TPRFN"
acronym—a name that now represents a growing community of operators
dedicated to resilient, RF-based communication.
His extensive knowledge of Packet Radio and his technical proficiency
were matched only by his willingness to help others navigate the
complexities of digital modes. In Central New York and far beyond, Jeff
was always pushing the boundaries of what our hobby could achieve.
Jeff was also a member of the PR Digital Operators Group (PR DOG) out of
Puerto Rico and worked with them as part of TPRFN so the island would
never again suffer the communication blackout devastation experienced
after Hurricane Maria.
Jeff was also a member of the Eastnet Packet Radio Group.
We have lost a great mentor and a dear friend. His "signal" will be
greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to live on through every
packet sent across the network he helped build.
Our thoughts are with Jeff's family and friends during this difficult time.
73, Jeff, may you Rest In Peace.
With deepest sympathy,
