Across the U.S., there are approximately 11 to 15 uncontained large
fires burning, with over 1,200 personnel deployed.

Significant Regional Activity
1. The South (Most Active)
The Southeastern U.S. is seeing the bulk of the current large-fire
activity due to drying spring fuels.

Florida/Georgia Line: A major wildfire near Baker County, FL, and Clinch
County, GA, has grown to roughly 4,000 acres. Smoke is significantly
impacting Waycross, GA, and surrounding areas.

North Carolina: Several large fires are being managed, including the
Deep Woods Fire (3,969 acres, 79% contained) and the Black Cove Fire
(3,502 acres, 97% contained) near Saluda.

Florida: The East Marsh Fire in Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge
is currently at 3,377 acres and 80% containment.

2. The West
California: A 3,500-acre wildfire broke out today in Riverside County,
currently only 5% contained. Additionally, the Crown Fire in Los Angeles
County is at 280 acres with 25% containment.

Arizona: One large fire is currently reported, though containment
details are still being updated.

3. Southern Plains (High Intensity)
Oklahoma and Texas are experiencing high-intensity fire behavior due to
wind.

Oklahoma: The Thompson Fire (near Bowring) and the Box Fire (near Gray
Horse) are exhibiting extreme behavior, including crowning and
long-range spotting, with residences currently threatened.

Texas: The Lefty Fire is burning 16 miles east of Turkey, TX, with
moderate behavior and threatened structures.

2. Seasonal Outlook
The National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) recently updated the
spring/summer outlook. Due to an ongoing "snow drought" and
record-breaking heat waves in March, nearly the entire Western U.S. is
projected to face above-normal wildfire risk starting earlier than usual
this year.
