We just got back from a PetSmart and PetCo trip with all three pups. They did very will in the car with each other (though I used the muzzles). Everyone was able to find a corner to lay down once Mindy decided to get her large butt out of the middle. We wanted to see how Ranger would do in a pet store with other dogs and animals around. The only thing he was REALLY interested in was the Guinea Pigs – I think he was thinking about dinner.
When we brought them home we left all their muzzles on and let them out in the yard together. Mindy and Ranger wanted to play and Peanut took one look and ran up on the deck and hid behind Daddy. She wanted no part of the big dogs bouncing around. Smart girl! She used to do the same thing when Bracken was wanting to “rumble.” Today we didn’t allow much playtime as the ground is icy and we do not want any hurt paws.
Not much interest in the cat. I think he is going to be like Peanut, he will ignore the little beast unless she starts the trouble. She gets Peanut going on occasion as well. The latest thing has been the cat sits outside the bedroom door in the morning and waits for the dogs to be let out. Then she rubs against their legs and then takes off down the hall and they follow her. They bounce down into let’s rumble mode and then she vanishes behind the couch, they normally turn around and want to go out. This morning she did it and I think got an extra surprise when 80# of dog did “let’s rumble” – her tail was so fluffed up I had to laugh. Ranger had no interest in her after that. Good boy!
Ranger needs work on leash walking, probably hasn’t done any since the track, and also needs to get out more for some socialization. But, everything is workable and he is a sweet pup. Rather large, but sweet.
