Note to those who run LPN programs and have their students go out on clinical visits to hospitals: Explain to your students that a blood pressure cuff does not belong centered on the elbow as I doubt the reading you will get is correct. And, the pressure of 52/65 is NOT normal and is an incorrect reading. Also, people in a hospital sometimes do not want someone just to hang out, if the patient looks like they are trying to eat, concentrate on something else, go away – don’t stand there and try to watch TV. Also, if you are interested on why they are in the hospital and how they are handling things, don’t just ask the question because you have to. Actually be interested. This is from one career school instructor to another.
