Upper-level energy and moisture flowing northward off the Gulf of
Mexico will help produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of
the Southern Plains, Southern Rockies, and the Lower Mississippi
Valley from Friday into Sunday morning. On Friday, showers and
thunderstorms will produce heavy rain over the Southern Plains.
Therefore, the WPC issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of excessive
rainfall over parts of the Southern Plains through Saturday
morning. The associated heavy rain will mainly cause localized
flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, small streams, and
low-lying areas most vulnerable.

Moreover, a front extending from the Upper Mississippi Valley to
the Central Plains will move into the Great Lakes by Saturday
morning. The boundary will trigger showers and severe
thunderstorms over parts of the Central Plains and the Middle
Mississippi Valley. Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk
(level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Central
Plains and the Middle Mississippi Valley through Saturday morning.
The hazards associated with these thunderstorms include frequent
lightning, severe wind gusts, hail, and the threat of tornadoes.

In addition, the showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy
rain. Therefore, the WPC issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of
excessive rainfall over parts of the Middle Mississippi
Valley/Central Plains through Saturday morning. The associated
heavy rain will mainly cause localized flash flooding, with urban
areas, roads, small streams, and low-lying areas most vulnerable.

On Saturday, the front moving into the Northeast/Ohio Valley will
produce severe thunderstorms. Therefore, the SPC has issued a
Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms over parts of the
Northeast/Ohio Valley from Saturday through Sunday morning. The
hazards associated with these thunderstorms include frequent
lightning, severe wind gusts, hail, and the threat of tornadoes.

Furthermore, heavy rain will develop over part of the Southern
Plains and adjacent areas of the Lower Mississippi Valley.
Therefore, the WPC issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of excessive
rainfall over parts of the Southern Plains/ Lower Mississippi
Valley from Saturday through Sunday morning. The associated heavy
rain will mainly cause localized flash flooding, with urban areas,
roads, small streams, and low-lying areas most vulnerable.

Also, a front moving over the Northern High Plains will trigger
showers and severe thunderstorms. Therefore, the SPC has issued a
Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms over parts of the
Northern High Plains from Saturday through Sunday morning. The
hazards associated with these thunderstorms include frequent
lightning, severe wind gusts, hail, and the threat of tornadoes.

On Sunday, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of
the Central/Southern Plains and Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley,
producing heavy rain. Therefore, the WPC issued a Slight Risk
(level 2/4) of excessive rainfall over parts of the
Central/Southern Plains and Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley on
Sunday. The associated heavy rain will mainly cause localized
flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, small streams, and
low-lying areas most vulnerable.

Elsewhere, onshore flow over the Pacific Northwest will produce
rain over the area through Sunday morning. Upper-level energy
moving over the Northern Intermountain Region will produce rain
over parts of the Northern High Plains and Northern Intermountain
Region from Saturday night into Sunday.
