Valid 12Z Sat May 09 2026 - 12Z Mon May 11 2026

..There is a Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms over
parts of the Southern Plains on Saturday and Sunday...

.. There is a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of excessive rainfall over
parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley on Saturday and Sunday...

A front lingering along the Gulf Coast will produce showers and
thunderstorms from the Southeast to the Southern Plains through
Sunday. Heavy rain will accompany the thunderstorms producing
heavy rain. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk (level
2/4) of excessive rainfall over parts of the Lower Mississippi
Valley on Saturday and Sunday. The associated heavy rain will
create mainly localized areas of flash flooding, with urban areas,
roads, small streams, and low-lying areas being the most
vulnerable.

In addition, showers and severe thunderstorms will develop over
parts of the Southern Plains on Saturday. Therefore, the SPC has
issued a Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms over
parts of the Southern Plains from Saturday into Sunday morning.
The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent
lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few
tornadoes.

On Sunday, showers and severe thunderstorms will redevelop over
parts of the Southern Plains and the Lower Mississippi Valley.
Therefore, the SPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe
thunderstorms over parts of the Southern Plains and the Lower
Mississippi Valley from Sunday into Monday morning. The hazards
associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe
thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes.

Meanwhile, a front extending from the Great Lakes to the Northern
High Plains will move southward to the Gulf Coast and eastward to
the Eastern Seaboard by Monday. The boundary will produce
scattered rain from the Great Lakes to the Northern High Plains on
Saturday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will also develop
along the front in the late afternoon into the late evening.

As the front moves to the East Coast, rain will develop over the
Northeast on Sunday into Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will
develop over parts of the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday afternoon and
continue over the Southeast into Monday morning.
