| NATIONAL SEVERE WEATHER BRIEFING
|
| DATE: 28 APR 2026 | 2200Z
|
+==============================================================================+
[1] SUMMARY
-----------
The severe weather outbreak continues to shift eastward into the Ohio
and Tennessee Valleys. A broad area of the eastern United States is under
convective risk today, while critical fire weather conditions persist in
the Southwest and High Plains.
[2] CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK (DAY 1 - TUESDAY)
---------------------------------------
REGION: Ohio Valley, Central Appalachians, and Mid-Atlantic.
RISK: SLIGHT (LEVEL 2 of 5).
HAZARDS:
- WIND: Primary threat; damaging gusts 60-70 mph possible.
- HAIL: Isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches.
- TORNADOES: Low probability (2%), though a brief spin-up remains
possible
along the advancing cold front.
TIMING: Late afternoon through the evening hours as the frontal boundary
interacts with a moist and unstable airmass.
[3] CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK (DAY 2 - WEDNESDAY)
---------------------------------------
REGION: Mid-Atlantic Coast and Northeast.
RISK: MARGINAL (Level 1).
HAZARDS: Scattered strong thunderstorms may produce gusty winds as the
system moves offshore. Heavy rain may lead to localized flooding in
low-lying
areas of the Northeast.
[4] FIRE WEATHER
----------------
REGION: Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas.
STATUS: CRITICAL AREA CONTINUES.
CONDITIONS:
- Humidity: 8-15%.
- Winds: Sustained 20-30 mph, gusts to 45 mph.
- Impacts: Ongoing dry conditions and dormant fuels make for dangerous
fire-start and rapid-spread potential. Red Flag Warnings are widespread.
[5] TROPICAL / MARINE
--------------------
REGION: Atlantic Seaboard.
WARNING: Small Craft Advisories in effect from the Carolinas to New Jersey.
CONDITIONS: Seas 5-8 ft; winds gusting 25-30 kt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

only. Data
