..Heat intensifies across the central U.S. Tuesday into
Wednesday...
..Increasing precipitation chances for the Northwest...
A cold front continues to sink south across the central and
eastern U.S. this morning, with high pressure building in the wake
of the front. Showers and thunderstorms will come to an end across
the Mid-Atlantic this morning, then dry conditions will persist
for much of the central and eastern U.S. through mid-week.
Isolated precipitation chances will be possible across Florida
where the front will stall tonight and across the Great Lakes as
upper level disturbances move over the region on Tuesday and
Wednesday.
In the West, dry weather will persist today, then precipitation
chances will increase across the Northwest on Tuesday. A Pacific
low pressure system will approach the coast and move onshore
Tuesday night into Wednesday. This system will bring widespread
precipitation, low elevation rain and high elevation snow, from
the coast to the northern Rockies.
Temperatures will trend cooler today across the central and
eastern U.S., with below average temperatures forecast from the
central Plains to the Northeast. Tuesday into Wednesday, a warm
front will begin pushing east across the Great Plains, and heat
will intensify once again across the central U.S. and
Intermountain West. High temperatures are forecast to reach 25-35
degrees above average, with the potential to break numerous
temperature records. Record-breaking heat will also continue
across the Southwest.
