Morning All! It is a pleasant 21 degrees here in Willington, CT. Pups fed and waiting for their walks. Mindy got put in her place overnight last night. I woke up about 4:30am listening to her scratch at her bed and rearrange things. I was about to tell her to knock it off and lay down when all of a sudden there was a growl and a VERY loud WOOF! She stopped and laid down in a hurry. Guess Ranger had enough of her crap and wanted to sleep. Rest of the night was very quiet. Of course she is avoiding him this morning.

Facebook Post: Welcome Home Ranger!
He’s a big, quiet, gentle boy. 80# of pup. He just laid there when Peanut threw a blanket on his head and than laid down on him. He didn’t whoof when Mindy stepped on a paw while he was sleeping. Perhaps the girls may learn something from him. I expect we will be soon seeing the cat sleeping with him.
He is scared of the dark. He did not want to walk by himself this evening once he got out of sight of the house. We wanted to see how he would walk without the girls. Now we know – it will take some work and time. We know that he needs work with other dogs (non-greyhounds) outside, but that’s OK, that’s why we leash-walk and have muzzles. It is our job to keep him out of trouble. So, welcome home Ranger. Two (Mindy and Peanut) becomes three (Mindy, Peanut, and Ranger). Welcome home.

Facebook Post: Pack Trip with Ranger
We just got back from a PetSmart and PetCo trip with all three pups. They did very will in the car with each other (though I used the muzzles). Everyone was able to find a corner to lay down once Mindy decided to get her large butt out of the middle. We wanted to see how Ranger would do in a pet store with other dogs and animals around. The only thing he was REALLY interested in was the Guinea Pigs – I think he was thinking about dinner.
When we brought them home we left all their muzzles on and let them out in the yard together. Mindy and Ranger wanted to play and Peanut took one look and ran up on the deck and hid behind Daddy. She wanted no part of the big dogs bouncing around. Smart girl! She used to do the same thing when Bracken was wanting to “rumble.” Today we didn’t allow much playtime as the ground is icy and we do not want any hurt paws.
Not much interest in the cat. I think he is going to be like Peanut, he will ignore the little beast unless she starts the trouble. She gets Peanut going on occasion as well. The latest thing has been the cat sits outside the bedroom door in the morning and waits for the dogs to be let out. Then she rubs against their legs and then takes off down the hall and they follow her. They bounce down into let’s rumble mode and then she vanishes behind the couch, they normally turn around and want to go out. This morning she did it and I think got an extra surprise when 80# of dog did “let’s rumble” – her tail was so fluffed up I had to laugh. Ranger had no interest in her after that. Good boy!
Ranger needs work on leash walking, probably hasn’t done any since the track, and also needs to get out more for some socialization. But, everything is workable and he is a sweet pup. Rather large, but sweet.

Facebook Post: Mindy Watching Ranger
Mindy watching for Ranger to come back from walk. Not happy that she had to stay but road is just to slick to walk all of them at one time.

Good Morning All!
So far we are doing good. Ranger is sort of ignoring the cat who has decided that his nose is the most wonderful thing to play with, just like she did with Bracken. Let him and Peanut out together this morning into the yard and when she squatted he lifted his leg and tried to pee on her. Good thing his aim sucks. Guess he needs to work on that.
Just back from our rather snowy walk with all three pups. Mindy decided she had enough about 1/2 way through the walk, grabbed her leash and wanted to come home. We made her go the rest of the way but she was not happy. Peanut kicked her boot off her foot twice, so OK, you want to get snow in your paw have at it. She tries to hop over the snow. Ranger, well, he is just a big ol’ boy, sort of goofy, wanted to play with the girls but then got a little out of breath and slowed down and walked behind them. He needs to get back into shape to keep up with Peanut and Mindy. Storm started a little late but I suspect that we should have about 8 inches by the time it is done late this afternoon.
More updates later. Stay warm everyone!

I just unfriended someone again who thinks they are being helpful by putting horrible pictures of dog abuse up on Facebook. And yet you don’t put a name, address, or any information I can work with. I really don’t need that shit on a daily basis. PLEASE if you have pictures to show call the police!! In the time it takes you to post them you could save a dogs life if you get out from behind your keyboard and actually do something about it. Enough!

On NBC news tonight: What is the worst announcement you would want to hear made on an overseas flight?
My guess: “Is there a pilot on board?”

Good Morning everyone!
We have a pleasant 3 degrees on our thermometer this morning in Willington, CT. Hopefully a high of 25 degrees. Today is supposed to be the last day of frigid and we are going back up to just cold tomorrow.
Mindy looked at me like, “What are you nuts?” when I sent her out this morning. Peanut went out 4 times before she finished all of her business.
Everyone have a good day!
