Solar Activity
.24 hr Summary...
Solar activity was at low levels. A C5.7 flare, which originated from
the eastern limb, peak at 01/2110 UTC and was the largest event of the
period. Regions 4520 (S12W20, Dai/beta) and 4522 (N13W27, Bxo/beta)
exhibited signs of decay, while Region 4518 (N08, L=354) decayed to
plage. Regions 4521 (N09E53, Hsx/alpha) and 4523 (N10E63, Hax/alpha)
were relatively stable and quiet. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed
in available coronagraph imagery.
.Forecast...
Solar activity will likely reach low levels with isolated to occasional
C-class flare activity, with a slight chance for M-class flares
(R1-R2/Minor-Moderate), through 04 Sep.
Energetic Particle
.24 hr Summary...
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached high levels with a peak
flux of 2,320 pfu observed at 01/1620 UTC. The greater than 10 MeV
proton flux was at background levels.
.Forecast...
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to reach high levels
through 03 Sep before decreasing to normal to moderate levels on 04 Sep.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at
background levels through 04 Sep.
Solar Wind
.24 hr Summary...
Solar wind parameters were at nominal levels. Total magnetic field
strength reached a peak of 6 nT, while the Bz component ranged from 5 nT
to -5 nT. Solar wind speeds averaged to just below 400 km/s. The phi
angle was predominately positive.
.Forecast...
Solar wind conditions are expected to largely remain at ambient-like
levels through 04 Sep.
Geospace
.24 hr Summary...
The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled.
.Forecast...
Mostly quiet levels are expected to prevail through 04 Sep.
