USA EXTREME WEATHER & STORMS
SEVERE WEATHER STATUS: Storm system tracking from southern Plains to
Upper Midwest with severe thunderstorms expected from east Texas
into southeast Iowa and Illinois, strong tornado and damaging wind
potential from central Arkansas to central Missouri, heavy to
excessive rainfall may bring new flooding . Atlantic hurricane
season inactive through September 12.
HEAT ALERT: Extreme Heat Warning in effect early September across
multiple regions with Heat Advisory on August 31. Heat index
readings near or above 105 degrees for 5 consecutive days with few
locations reaching or exceeding 110 degrees.
WINTER PRECEDENT: Recent severe winter weather produced heavy snow
and life-threatening wind chills across multiple states . Regional
systems continue threat assessment posture.
