USA EL NINO FORECAST & CLIMATE OUTLOOK
EL NINO STATUS: El Niño declared by NOAA Climate Prediction Center
  in early June 2026. Forecast describes 2026-2027 event as severe,
  referred to as super El Niño or Godzilla El Niño. El Niño
  persistence 100% probable through January-March 2027, 97% through
  early spring 2027.
WINTER 2026-2027 TEMPERATURE: Pronounced split forecasted between
  warmer conditions across much of northern United States and wetter
  conditions across large portions of South and West. Mostly mild
  temperatures predicted with colder stretch from central New
  England through Appalachians and Ohio Valley.
WINTER 2026-2027 PRECIPITATION: NOAA favors above-normal
  precipitation across broad southern United States and parts of
  West, with strongest signals across Southern California, Arizona,
  New Mexico, Texas, Gulf Coast and Southeast. Wetter than normal
  across West and parts of South, Midwest, and Florida; drier than
  normal in parts of East, Plains, and Southwest.
SUMMER 2026 OUTLOOK: Strong to very strong El Niño expected to start
  this summer lasting through upcoming winter season. Increased
  potential for above normal temperatures forecasted; precipitation
  outlooks show equal chances of above, near, or below normal
  rainfall.
