USA EXTREME WEATHER & STORMS
SEVERE WEATHER ACTIVE: Extreme heat across South-Central Plains,
Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley, and Southwest with limited
nighttime relief. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding risk in Desert
Southwest and central Plains; isolated strong to severe
thunderstorms possible central Plains into Northeast.
MICHIGAN ACTIVITY: Severe weather struck southeast Michigan with
tornado warnings and over 350,000 people without power. Reports of
high wind damage, trees down and hail across Metro Detroit.
NORTHEAST OUTLOOK: Confirmed tornado reported near Somerset, New
York as waterspout moved onshore northeast of Buffalo.
Philadelphia under Level 2 storm threat for three consecutive days
in September, rare occurrence since 2023.
REGIONAL IMPACTS: US experiencing worst tornado season in 14 years.
