NEWS FOR THE NORTH OF ENGLAND
After extensive repairs to the Gateshead, Sheriff Hill 70cm FM
repeater GB3NT, the repeater unit will be installed on Tuesday the
28th of April 2026. The switch on will take place at precisely
1500BST. The keeper kindly asks for volunteers to join in for a
switch-on net to test the repeater for the first time with callsigns,
names and signal reports. GB3NT is known to reach as far as
Middlesbrough and the North York Moors to the South and Otterburn and
Kielder Forest to the North. The downlink is on 433MHz and the uplink
is on 434.6MHz. The CTCSS tone is 118.8Hz. GB3NT is also connected to
Echolink via GB3NT-L over RF link from Walkergate, Echolink node
225411.
The OPS-2m-NW Net is a regular VHF simplex net for licensed amateur
radio operators across North West England, organised and run by the
M0KKN Club. The net takes place fortnightly on 145.500MHz at 7.30pm.
Operators are asked to QSY as directed by the net controller. All
licence levels are welcome to join in.
Barnsley and District Amateur Radio Club has a Club meeting on

Llanelli [LAN-ETH-LEE] Amateur Radio Society meets at the Swiss
Valley Community Centre from 7pm every Monday. The Society has a
radio room with HF, 6m, 2m and 70cm equipment, as well as C4FM and FT

On Sundays, Newport Amateur Radio Society has a net on 7.104MHz at
10am. On Mondays, the D-Star net starts at 8pm. There is a net on
Tuesday from 8pm on 145.375MHz. The Society has a club meeting at
Rhiwderin Tabernacle Church Hall on Thursdays from 7pm. This week's
meeting features a talk by GW6RTV on an SDR and Raspberry Pi project.
