New Project
I am starting to work on a new research project that I will tie in with my 2017 presentation at the HVAC Excellence conference in Orlando, FL. The title of the presentation is, “Instructional Technology: The good and the evil.” Almost six years ago I gave my first presentation on instructional technology and at that time I believed what we were seeing was the next best thing to the invention of toast. It was new, it was exciting, and the thought of students happy in a classroom, the happy instructor wandering through mentoring them, using individualized education was a dream.
Well, over the last six years I have lived instruction technology as a classroom instructor, as a department chair, as an administrator. I have seen to positives, the negatives, and some of the struggles of adoption. In order to quantify my conference talk I am working on a small research project. I hope to answer one primary question:
- Does 1:1 Instructional Technology add educational value in the post-secondary vocational classroom?
- If yes, how? If not, why?
- If different for a specific set of students, why and how?
I would really like to have feedback from instructors and students that have worked in a 1:1 technology environment. I want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly of these experiences.

Good morning all!
It is 70 degrees here in Babson Park, FL according to the backyard weather thingy. I suspect it is going to be a warm one today!! Well, Ranger still limping a little on his hurt pad (I hesitate to give the boy to much pain med for it because then he acts like an idiot and tears ass around the back yard). On todays agenda: Try and pick up the rest of my meds from CVS. Somehow they are out of something relatively important. I did figure out that yes, I can give myself that shot. Honestly, I was afraid that I would be too much of a wimp to do so, but I had to try last night and it is nice I can handle it.Anyways all…. have a good day.

Good Evening,
All is well here in Babson Park, FL. I look around the room here and I am thinking that I am extremely lucky to have had things end up the way they did. The pups are 100% calm, fast asleep. Jesse had to go do some overdue grocery shopping and he is also going to try to find a med-alert bracelet for me for the anti-coagulants. Since I do not intend to be housebound long at all I need to make sure that in case of emergency people have a clue. Just a wise idea.
Anyway, did a few extremely light projects around the house today. I will probably attempt to do a few more tomorrow. I am NOT exercising or pushing the envelope folks, so don’t even start. I am however making sure that I do not become a couch potato, this is OK for my dogs but not for me. And, yes, I am following my doctors’ directions. On today’s agenda I took a broom, swept of the patio and pushed some soap around on it to try and get the slick algae growth off of it so that Ranger stops sliding into the house when he attempts to put on the brakes on his 40mph dash to the door. I am afraid he is going to get a bloody nose. Also took a drive to Lowe’s to get the caulking that Jesse needed to seal the gutters that are the cause of the algae on the patio. Neither of these activities caused me any major issues.
One thing I have noticed is that I do get a little winded with very minimal activity. Not sure why this is the case, I suspect it has something to do with the blood thinners I am on, but I do not see that listed in any of the side affects. It could also be the recent hospital stay. Not that worried about that right now as I am sure it is the reason they do not want me back at work yet.
The one thing I am a little more concerned about is some memory loss that I have of the week before I was in the hospital and the first day of being in the hospital. For example, I know that after my incident on the running trail at the lake, I came home and called my PCP. After that call I got on the phone and had several meetings. I have no idea who those were with, I am not sure what I even talked about. Another example, I have no idea what happened in meetings earlier that week, or the week before. I also know I went to the ER but I am not 100% sure what happened there. That is sort of strange to me and a little worrisome. Hopefully short term and will come back. I know they did a half-ass attempt at looking for clots in my head, they did an CT scan but did not use contrast to check the blood flow. I had to request what they did, so I am wondering if something was going on there as well. Time will tell. At least I am on the correct medication for any clots anyways so if there was something it should clear up.
Well, just wanted to share with everyone that I am alive, following doctors orders and at least not bored sitting in a hospital room. Tomorrow is another day.

With a little research, found out He was 2 lbs under race weight, and realized the food amount was ridiculous. Little surprise when I found out the group was the worst in MA.-

Bob RiderI never adopted one but I was told by two ladies (that thought I had a adopted one) at a gas station that I was walking a dog at about how mean they are and how you have to keep a muzzle on them all the time so they don’t bite people because the people that race them are so mean to them.. They told me I better get a muzzle on the one I was walking before she bit me.-
