Just want to make a suggestion for those with hounds that start limping. Put something oily (veggie oil) on their paw pads and check for corns. Finding a corn can prevent a whole bunch of stress and heart ache. Corns are nasty but it is the best of many alternatives.

So, my primary care doctor just called me from home as he knew I’d be worried about the CT scan and lab work that was done this afternoon. Guess what? no more blood clots. The IVC is now clear and the clots have dissolved. It appears that the new blood thinners are doing their job. Did I mention that I HATE stabbing myself with a needle twice a day? And no one can tell me now not to become black and blue in the process. What no one can figure out is why I am having some serious muscle pain every once in a while, to the point of out of breath and debilitating. Oh, well, at least partial good news.

Unfortunately I had to cancel my weekend plans. Was supposed to go do Swim South Florida’s first race of the season, Swim Ft. Lauderdale, on Sunday morning. After the possibility of yet another blood clot, I decided that I just wasn’t feeling safe about it. My Doctor said that I could do it but over the years have learned to trust my instincts. Going to skip this one. I will have to go see what’s next.

Had to turn AC on this evening. It is 77 in the house and humid as hell. The temps are supposed to drop along with the humidity overnight so by tomorrow evening we should be good to open the house again and turn AC off.

Doctor’s visit this afternoon as a follow-up to my hospital stay. Cleared to return to normal activity. Told me that it is very likely that my fitness level prevented a much worse problem as I was able to know I had a blood flow problem before it got much worse. Discussed some of the events I am planning on doing this year and he is OK with everything that does not start with the letters: Tri, Byc, Mar, Dua. Well, we are good on that because none of those were planned.

Realized a few things while watching the marathon today. Which was sort of strange after running it last year.
1) I am not a good spectator. I wanted to reach out and slap everyone that stopped for a picture in front of the castle. Wanted to yell at them “move it! You will be sorry you stopped later in the race!!”
2) It was still cold watching it.
3) A lot of people are stupid when running races. They are looking for injuries.
4) No, it’s not a good idea to stop while coming through the boardwalk and EPCOT to pick up a margarita to cross the finish line with.
5) No the rodent at the finish line does not want a drink, but the race announcer will gladly help you part with the drink.
6) The Disney Marathon is something to do once.
7) People have no etiquette anymore. -

We are finally home. Jesse had a good race, took care of one item from the bucket list without kicking said bucket. Now it’s time for some rest and recovery. He has a busy half marathon schedule for the next year.
Thank you for all the support!
His time appears to have been 6:06:40 which was better than any of his training runs. -

It’s 2:45am and Jesse just left hotel room to catch bus to start at Epcot. I will follow in a little bit so that I can get up to the Magic Kingdom to see him come through the castle. Official start time is 5:30am
