Greyhound-data is updated with the last of the 2020 races. This includes the final races at Palm Beach Kennel Club. The result charts were finally updated. My heart is heavy as I remove the last of the Florida tracks from my scripts for Greyhound-data.
Stats for 2020:
36358 races ran on North American Tracks down from 52626 in 2019.
11426 individual dogs ran in North America over 2020. 5806 ran their last race on a Florida track before moving to another state or adoption. This includes the 585 at Derby Lane, 361 at Orange Park, 815 at Palm Beach that were prematurely retired by the deceit of the AR groups and the greed of the tracks.
In 2020 we had 283133 individual starts across all North American tracks, this is down from 438193 individual starts in 2019.
May 2021 be better to our breed and may the general public gain a better understanding of the damage done. May the Arkansas Kennel Association change their course and perhaps find some other avenue to continue racing. May the leaders in the NGA and the rest of the racing world finally understand that a new model for racing has to happen if it is to survive. May the politicians that support racing continue to understand the love of the breed, the race, and the people involved. I do not want to turn off another track in my upkeep of greyhound data.
