Happy New Years Eve everyone!
To all of my friends I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I know for many of you 2013 has not been all that great! I hope 2014 brings new joy and new successes for all.
To my friends in the Greyhound world, may your kennels and dogs be healthy, may your racing be safe and fast, may your pups grow strong. It is my hope that all of you that work taking care of the dogs on the tracks and on the farms do get some time with your friends and families before you have to go back and do it all again tomorrow (oh, don’t forget where you left your keys). Give the brats an extra treat tonight.
For those in the amateur circuit may your year be filled with nice, clean, and safe races. Doesn’t matter if it’s a turtle or a ribbon, may our dogs always have fun. I hope that my pack remains strong and well enough to provide you with some competition next year, from Lady who needs to learn to be patient and not loose interest when the box opens, to Mindy who has realized that she can’t keep up with the young pups but will continue to try. We are also going to allow Ranger to do some straight racing for the fun of it. He won’t ever win but his level of excitement is a hard thing to watch and not let him participate. Isn’t that what it is all about? We will even allow Peanut to come and cheer them all on – the mouthy little thing that she is 🙂 So, the new year for us will bring a return to LGRA and NOTRA.
For those in adoption thank you so much for everything you do every day. It takes dedication to take care of, fund, and place the retirees every day. It has been a great year for adoption.Let’s hope that all of those lost dogs are found before the next major snow storm hits the country. As always let us know if there are any trips we can make to help.
Let’s also look back and remember those that have passed. This includes both people and pets. It has not been a good year for many with the number of dogs that we have lost to accidents, sickness, and cancer. It is my hope that in 2014 real strides are made in curing some of these issues and that we do not loose as many.
For everyone, please have a safe New Years Eve! The safest place is to stay home with your loved ones, your pets, and your family! Please let’s keep our friends who are unable to stay home because of their jobs in our minds. The police officers and our military that have no choice other than to be away, please keep their safety in your thoughts.
What are we doing for New Years Eve? What we do every year. Avoiding the drunks on the roads. No, seriously we may or may not watch the ball drop, we may or may not be awake for New Years 2014. We will be at home, with each other, with our 5-pack (6 if you want to count the cat). The dogs will get some bones to spend the evening with. The cat may get a can of tuna. And we will all have a Happy New Years and I hope you all do the same!
