Well, Lesley I think I somehow managed to finish the 5 days of pup pics challenge (over the course of 2 weeks). But, won’t stop posting anyways 🙂
Good Evening,
All is well here in Babson Park, FL. I look around the room here and I am thinking that I am extremely lucky to have had things end up the way they did. The pups are 100% calm, fast asleep. Jesse had to go do some overdue grocery shopping and he is also going to try to find a med-alert bracelet for me for the anti-coagulants. Since I do not intend to be housebound long at all I need to make sure that in case of emergency people have a clue. Just a wise idea.
Anyway, did a few extremely light projects around the house today. I will probably attempt to do a few more tomorrow. I am NOT exercising or pushing the envelope folks, so don’t even start. I am however making sure that I do not become a couch potato, this is OK for my dogs but not for me. And, yes, I am following my doctors’ directions. On today’s agenda I took a broom, swept of the patio and pushed some soap around on it to try and get the slick algae growth off of it so that Ranger stops sliding into the house when he attempts to put on the brakes on his 40mph dash to the door. I am afraid he is going to get a bloody nose. Also took a drive to Lowe’s to get the caulking that Jesse needed to seal the gutters that are the cause of the algae on the patio. Neither of these activities caused me any major issues.
One thing I have noticed is that I do get a little winded with very minimal activity. Not sure why this is the case, I suspect it has something to do with the blood thinners I am on, but I do not see that listed in any of the side affects. It could also be the recent hospital stay. Not that worried about that right now as I am sure it is the reason they do not want me back at work yet.
The one thing I am a little more concerned about is some memory loss that I have of the week before I was in the hospital and the first day of being in the hospital. For example, I know that after my incident on the running trail at the lake, I came home and called my PCP. After that call I got on the phone and had several meetings. I have no idea who those were with, I am not sure what I even talked about. Another example, I have no idea what happened in meetings earlier that week, or the week before. I also know I went to the ER but I am not 100% sure what happened there. That is sort of strange to me and a little worrisome. Hopefully short term and will come back. I know they did a half-ass attempt at looking for clots in my head, they did an CT scan but did not use contrast to check the blood flow. I had to request what they did, so I am wondering if something was going on there as well. Time will tell. At least I am on the correct medication for any clots anyways so if there was something it should clear up.
Well, just wanted to share with everyone that I am alive, following doctors orders and at least not bored sitting in a hospital room. Tomorrow is another day.
Sunshine and nice weather… a moment of calm (before someone starts a chase)
Can anyone name all the dogs in the correct locations?

I don’t care what anyone wants to believe, and I know because I used to work in the industry, this is not the fault of the insurance companies. The insurance companies are a preferred scapegoat for these outrageous prices but the fact of the matter is that the drug companies, along with their buddies at the FDA have for years been milking the American people and have record profits in the process. They can’t get away with it in most European countries because the governments would have their butts in a sling.

Good Morning all! It is 53 degrees in Babson Park, FL according to the Backyard Weather Thingy. It is a bright, sunny day and I hope that everyone here has a great day!
Good Evening All,
As most of you know I am home. I have spent time with the dogs, not enough for Mindy. I have spent time with Jesse, not enough. I have made my follow-up Dr’s appointments. We have gotten all my meds that I still have to take, some short term and some long term. I have eaten a home cooked dinner. Got a quick hair cut as mine was long enough it was annoying me. Took my early evening meds. It is now time to catch everyone up and talk about what comes next.
I am on “low stress” – “no work” restrictions until at least Tuesday 2/9 when I visit with my primary care doctor for a follow-up visit. Additionally, my blood INR levels did not reach the desired levels so I am still on a “clot-buster” type drug that Jesse has to inject under the skin on my stomach twice a day, which is not fun. I will have to remain on this drug until these blood values increase and shows that the Coumadin is working properly. For some reason my body is fighting this idea.
Do I 100% believe all problems are completely taken care of? No, I am not a fool. Do I think we have identified them all? Possibly, there are still a few “unexplained things” but we believe that they are tied to the blood clots, the low blood pressure, and the restriction in blood flow through my heart. I think that we are now at a manageable point in my treatment.
For exercise and other things like that in my life, I am on hold for activities other that building up my walking until my Primary Care doctor evaluates things. The doctors really believe that if I am smart I will be able to return to my prior level of activity substituting something else for running. I am going to try to get a referral to a sports doctor or a medical fitness professional to have them put together a plan that will keep me moving and making progress. One of my biggest fears is to loose everything fitness-wise that I have worked very hard to gain. Just have to do it smart.
I know several of you have asked what I am going to do to remove my employment related stress from my life. Well, this is not a topic for Facebook, and other than saying that we are discussing options; Jesse and I still have a few numbers to crunch; and things to look at so we will put that aside for now.
I really wanted to thank everyone who spent a lot of time giving Jesse a lot of support. While this whole episode scared the crap out of me, worse than I have ever been scared before, Jesse was not only extremely worried (beyond what I believe) but he was at home with responsibilities and had to carry on with life while I was holed up in the hospital. So my preverbal hat is off to all of you.

Good Afternoon all!
I am home. Still have a few issues but the care team at the hospital and I decided that I can follow the required routine at home with daily trips to the hospital lab for blood work. I will post more later. Mindy spent some time in my arms. Thanks for all of your good wishes.
