Happy New Years Eve everyone!
To all of my friends I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I know for many of you 2013 has not been all that great! I hope 2014 brings new joy and new successes for all.
To my friends in the Greyhound world, may your kennels and dogs be healthy, may your racing be safe and fast, may your pups grow strong. It is my hope that all of you that work taking care of the dogs on the tracks and on the farms do get some time with your friends and families before you have to go back and do it all again tomorrow (oh, don’t forget where you left your keys). Give the brats an extra treat tonight.
For those in the amateur circuit may your year be filled with nice, clean, and safe races. Doesn’t matter if it’s a turtle or a ribbon, may our dogs always have fun. I hope that my pack remains strong and well enough to provide you with some competition next year, from Lady who needs to learn to be patient and not loose interest when the box opens, to Mindy who has realized that she can’t keep up with the young pups but will continue to try. We are also going to allow Ranger to do some straight racing for the fun of it. He won’t ever win but his level of excitement is a hard thing to watch and not let him participate. Isn’t that what it is all about? We will even allow Peanut to come and cheer them all on – the mouthy little thing that she is 🙂 So, the new year for us will bring a return to LGRA and NOTRA.
For those in adoption thank you so much for everything you do every day. It takes dedication to take care of, fund, and place the retirees every day. It has been a great year for adoption.Let’s hope that all of those lost dogs are found before the next major snow storm hits the country. As always let us know if there are any trips we can make to help.
Let’s also look back and remember those that have passed. This includes both people and pets. It has not been a good year for many with the number of dogs that we have lost to accidents, sickness, and cancer. It is my hope that in 2014 real strides are made in curing some of these issues and that we do not loose as many.
For everyone, please have a safe New Years Eve! The safest place is to stay home with your loved ones, your pets, and your family! Please let’s keep our friends who are unable to stay home because of their jobs in our minds. The police officers and our military that have no choice other than to be away, please keep their safety in your thoughts.
What are we doing for New Years Eve? What we do every year. Avoiding the drunks on the roads. No, seriously we may or may not watch the ball drop, we may or may not be awake for New Years 2014. We will be at home, with each other, with our 5-pack (6 if you want to count the cat). The dogs will get some bones to spend the evening with. The cat may get a can of tuna. And we will all have a Happy New Years and I hope you all do the same!

ASPCA Ads
Why am I about to throw up when there are 6 ASPCA ads on TV in the last 30 minutes? Could it be because almost none of their fund raising goes to adoption efforts?

Good Morning!
Good morning all! It is 67 degrees according to the backyard weather thingy. It appears the pups are in rare form this morning, not sure if I like it when they are in the backyard running figure 8’s in the dark. Don’t understand even with a day off this week why it is dragging. Need to write a job description today for an Educational Technologist. If anyone is interested this position will be in CT and MA (traveling). Please let me know. Brian don’t know if you know anyone.

Night Before Christmas 2013
Twas the night before Christmas….. Anyways, I know many of my friends and acquaintances are off to family and friends for their holidays. But, before you all leave I wanted to wish all of you a Merry Christmas! For some of my friends that don’t celebrate Christmas please forgive me but the same wishes apply for whichever holiday you do celebrate.
To all of you, have a Merry Christmas! Enjoy the time with your friends and families. Enjoy a “day off” if you can. Please travel safe, drive sober, and be careful. For those of you in the midwest please stay warm! However, please keep in your mind those of our friends who do not get a true day off.
To all of our soldiers and airmen here and overseas, please be safe out there. We really do appreciate the sacrifices that you and your families make for your country, other countries, and the world. I wish you and your families the best and hope that you are able to come home, permanently, in the near future. I keep you all in my thoughts.
To my friends who work the farms and the kennels taking care of the Greyhounds that we all love. Thank you. I know that you may not get a full day off as someone must continue their care, but please know that the work you do is respected and appreciated as those wonderful dogs come to us spoiled, well adjusted, and just in general great pets when they are done racing on the “big track.” We look forward to seeing pictures of your dogs enjoying their Christmas treats as I know many of you give them. We look forward to another safe, fast, and prosperous year for all of you.
I think that just about says it all. Not one of my more glorious Christmas messages but from the heart. Jesse, myself, and “The Pack” will be enjoying our first Christmas in Florida. A little strange as we are working on the gardens on Christmas Eve, but good anyways. Peanuts Florida Thoughts
Have to say that the sand of Florida is meeting with Peanut’s approval. See, up until recently none of the others in my pack have been wanting to play with her. They knew she had been hurt, they knew I was pretty upset about it, and they have basically spent the last 2 years protecting her. I know it has been sort of pissing her off as she has tried everything to get Mindy to “rumble” with her.
Well, over the last month there has been a change. They have started to play together again. This morning I had to laugh, Peanut went out the door with the others following her. They all went to lay down and that isn’t what Peanut wanted. She went to the far corner of the yard and started barking at nothing. Once that got everyone into the same corner as she was in she turned around and started digging in the sand and flung dirt up at Ranger. Well, that just annoyed him and the chase was on. Well, poor guy, he didn’t stand a chance with the four girls.They chased his butt around the yard and finally Peanut went after his ears. He ran back up to the patio and the 90 pounds of Ranger goofball hid behind my legs from the little 47 pound Peanut. She was so happy and her tail was a going a mile a minute. The pack played with her.
